And it continues to reinvent itself, betting on container port transport.
VALENCIA. The company is in luck. After turning 65 years old in 2021, the road freight transport operator closes a “laborious” 2022 fiscal year, but also one of growth, after entering not only in the world of international transport, but also in container transport in the Port of Valencia, as its CEO, Juan Ortega, assures Diario del Puerto.
One of the keys to this evolutionary process of Transportes Ortega was the change of headquarters, located in the Valencian neighborhood of Nazaret, very close to the Valencian dock. Transportes Ortega has seen its activity completely double, reaching 100% growth. With this new multi-purpose base, the company has been able to offer all kinds of specialized services for trucks.
Juan Ortega, who is also president of the General Cargo Association of the Valencian Federation of Transport and Logistics Entrepreneurs (FVET), assures that “we have never stopped trying to make technological progress”. In this regard, the carrier is going to start implementing a new management system next year thanks to its collaboration with DDTrans. In addition, Ortega expresses his desire to internationalize online documentation for general cargo, as in other countries it has not yet been established and a lot of paperwork is used, which hinders the speed and effectiveness of the services.
Since the change of headquarters, Transportes Ortega has increased its activity by 100%.
The main challenge the company will face in the coming year is the renewal of a fleet of “almost 60 trucks plus some 5 autonomous ones,” Ortega says. This process seems complicated, given the shortage of vehicles and the price increases that the current global scenario is producing. That is why the forecast for 2023, according to Ortega, is “to wait, there is no other option”.
